Older Systems

I built a computer last year, it is a P4 2.4, 1g Ram, Radeon 9600 PRO Video card and I could not go a day without the system freezing or rebooting every time I ran IE 7 and Word 2007 at the same time.
I went back to XP and I use Word 2007 and IE 7 every day and never have any problems. I don't know if it is because I don't have enough resources to run Vista or something else.
My questions are; is anyone else having that problem with the same type of setup? Is this system just to slow to run Vista beta 2 or is there a way to set it up to perform better with what I have? Or should I just wait until I get a Duo Core system to run Vista?

Chapa,
I don't think you would have any issues at all.
I've been a Beta tester since Windows 95, and Vista is the BEST I've seen yet.
MS Requested that I do the upgrade path, I did so, from Windows 2003 to Vista.
System is:
AMD Sempron 2400 512Mb DDR RAM 70Gb IDE drive On board video/sound/LAN
It works fine, I must admit, I wasn't expecting it to, but it does, I'm very impressed.
Just waiting on Nvidia to release non-Beta drivers for my NForce4 mobo, and it's on my 64-bit system for sure.

Vista, you are the BEST.

Your system seems to have enough resources for Vista to run properly. I would try a different tack.
There have been compatibility issues with IE7 and Sun Microsystems Java 1.5, with Java 6 Beta being the fix.
There are also some issues with Adobe Acrobat (not Reader) pdf plug-in with MS Office, causing symptoms similar to your experience. Either uninstall or disable the plug-in.
